Hello again, friends!
Welcome to day 3 of my Growing in Unity week with Unity Stamp Company.
Today I want to share a set of beautiful purple flowers. I used the flower stamp from Angie Bloms set "My Condolences". This was my first time inking up this flower and I must say; it is an absolute dream to color!
This first card was made for my daughter Samantha. She loves the color purple. There is a most precious significance behind using the words He is. You ready for it? :)
When my kids were little we had a well loved CD compilation that we would listen to over and over. One of their favorite songs was "He is" by Aaron Jeoffrey. (I've linked the song here ;) They still talk about that CD to this day. My daughter and I listen to this song together (and a few others from that CD) when I visit her in Kansas City. It holds a very special place in our hearts and making this card brought back the sweetest memories.
The sentiment "He is" is from Graciellie Design set called Hallelujah. I masked off risen so that I could use only the He is portion of the stamp. I encourage you to not put away stamp sets you may only use for a special occasion because many of the sentiments can be masked off and used for any occasion.
I love this next card just as much as the first. I made this for my sister, Tina. She is one of my very closest friends and I could NOT do life without her. This flower stamp is so incredibly versatile. It is large enough that you can use pieces of it to achieve an incredible design.
Here is how I created the card below:
- I placed the stamp where I wanted it onto my watercolor panel. After stamping the first corner, I left the stamp in place on my stamping platform and simply turned the paper around to stamp the mirrored image to the adjacent corner. I left the stamp in place to re-stamp after my watercolored images dried.
- I then stamped my sentiment from the March 2019Sentiment Kit called ...baby bear hugs. I took my white roller pen and added some white markings to the word Friend.
- This was the first time I used a new to me set of watercolors, and I absolutely love them. They are a 48 pan set by I Dainayw. Very high quality and highly concentrated. The pigment is vibrant and beautiful!
- After I finished coloring, I took the panel back to my stamping platform and re-stamped the flowers so that I could heat emboss them.
- Lastly I attached the completed panel with foam tape to an A2 horizontal card base and added a few black enamel dots.
I am eager to color this flower set again and again and...….
As always, I would love to know which card was your favorite!
I do have several items linked, but I am not an affiliate. I just like to enable you as best I can. ;)

I like them both. It is great that you can use the one stamp to make a card for your daughter with special meaning. Masking off stamps to make them more versatile is one of my favorite things to do.
ReplyDeleteBoth so beautiful!! Love the sweet meaning behind your first card... so precious!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning shades of purple! Making a card that is inspired by something personal is so special. It’s like a tangible memory. It’s the reason we card makers do what we do. I love your tip about masking sentiments for other occasions.
ReplyDeleteThese are such lovely cards Bobbie! I love sweet family memories and how music really sticks with us.
ReplyDeleteI just love how you personalized the color for Samantha! Love them!
ReplyDeleteI love both these cards equally! I’m a purple fan also...has always been my favorite color since I was a little kid. My sisters has always been pink, lol. I really love how you use the same stamp different ways....really gets the creative juices going. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful! It was such. A creative way to use the stamp in different ways. I love the second card because I haven’t tried the mirroring technique. Angie’s designs are so lovely. I keep adding to my wishlist with all these GIU week blogs. 🤦♀️
ReplyDeleteBoth are lovely cards!!! I can’t choose!😁 Thanks for sharing the stories behind them too! ( Good advice about the special occasion sets and masking off!)
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous and I don't favor one over the other. I love masking off just a portion of my sentiments. Really makes them even more versatile.
ReplyDeleteOh no, I just can't pick a fave today. They are both purple flowers!! lol Both designs are lovely. I do like how you did a black mat at just the bottom of the sentiment on the first card.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty with the purple flowers. I like the layout of the second one just a little better.
ReplyDeleteI just love this card with the beautiful purple petals so tightly wrapped. I have this on my wishlist and can't wait to get it.
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are beautiful... so hard to pick a favorite. I love this stamps set (it's on my wishlist!)
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful cards again!!! They are both so pretty, my favorite, if I had to choose, the second one for your sister, love the flower in the corners!
ReplyDeleteBoth are lovely, but my favorite is the 2-corner layout. I have this set and it definitely makes wonderful cards!

ReplyDeleteWow! Truly beautiful and I love the story behind each card!
ReplyDeleteI saw these cards on Instagram and had to come over to your blog and tell you just how beautiful they are! I'm not sure which one would be my favorite -- possibly the second one, but they're both gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYou’ve colored the flowers beautifully!!
ReplyDeleteWow again absolutely gorgeous cards! It really is hart to decide which one of the two I like the best! I guess I would choose the Friend one! The Purple is just so beautifully deep of a Purple! But honestly they both are amazing!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful palette on both cards. I don't have a sister but watching my daughters grow together (ages 12 and 14) makes me believe I missed out on one of life's greatest gifts. Thanks for sharing your creativity.
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely floral cards today. Gorgeous in purple. Lovely work
ReplyDeletePainting the flowers purple makes them so majestic. They just pop. I think I like the second card the best with the flowers in the corners.
ReplyDeleteI like both equal. You make such lovely cards that I really can't pick a favorite!
ReplyDeleteLove your coloring of the flowers, and really love the masking idea and restamping as well. Your first card is precious with the He is sentiment personalized for your daughter, and so love the sentiment on the 2nd card as well. You are so inspirational!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous flowers and beautiful coloring!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful...! Love your coloring.. 😊
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are so lovely. Great tip for masking portions of sentiments! Sisters are important parts of our lives. I’m lucky to have 6 of them!!
ReplyDeleteNeat!!! I learned about using part of a sentiment wayyyy back.... We had one that started off as "Dare to be".... and I didn't like the rest of it... but Dare To Be was neat....
ReplyDeleteLove that you personalized both cards for someone special! Also Love the purple in both! As always you are so thoughtful Bobbie Sue and that is just one thing I love about YOU! <3
ReplyDeleteThe colors on your cards are just beautiful! Though I like both (and seeing how you used the same stamp differently on each) I have to say the on for your sister just draws me in with the colors. Love it!
ReplyDeleteJUST Beautiful
ReplyDeleteBobbie Sue, I love your cards, especially the colors! Purple and white were my sorority colors! These are gorgeous!
