Friends of Unity Oct 23 Blog Hop ~ Build a Scene

Hello, friends! Welcome to October!

Ahhhh, I love October. Especially here on the farm!

This months creative cue is Building a Scene. (Be sure to read my thoughts below regarding this cue!)

On my first card I used the gorgeous window from an Angie Blom set called Outside Your Window. The door is from the Aug '21 KOM called Pumpkin Season

The pumpkins from this set would have looked great fussy cut and popped up on both sides of the door, but I didn't want to be limited to the season I might send this card.

Here I stamped an image of the door exactly where I plan to pop up the colored piece. This allowed me to only color parts of the window I knew would be visible.

The door alone doesn't look that appealing, but......

...when you put it all together - it's meant to be!! I love the outcome of this card. I adore how this door stamp allows you to personalize the welcome sign!

A door in front of a window doesn't seem to make sense, but then I remembered, in the creative world, most anything can make sense! Have fun with this process, friends!

I love the little bit of shadow the popped up door gives. As if it is slightly ajar!

The stamped image behind the popped up one really helps it look 3D. Don't you think?!

The idea for this next card came at 3:30 am Friday morning! I got up and quickly made this card. Loving the outcome!

Here I used the big and beautiful stamp created by Angie Blom called "A Walk in the Woods". The encouraging sentiment is cut from the Vintage Winnie the Pooh cut apart sentiment strips.

I created this single layer scene by adding leaves to the bare trees, deminsion to the background/foreground, and by adding the sun shining through the trees.

Remember, when building a scene to think outside of the box! It doesn't just have to be clouds and sky, or hills of snow/grass/mountains. It can also be windows and doors, or adding of seasonal elements!

My husband encouraged me on adding the yellow to brighten the scene! I don't have much experience adding light. I definitely want to improve so it looks more realistic.

I made this card for my daughter as she is stepping into a new season of her life going back to school at 32 years old. I am so proud of her and want her to know she is so much more than she feels she is!!

I hope you’ll  join our build a scene cue and create some new cards to share in Unity Show & Tell! Please, TAG ME if you do. I would truly love to see them!!

Today is World Card Making Day and there are some pretty great deals this weekend at Unity! I love this quote I found online regarding WCMD- “World Card Making Day reminds us that the best gifts come from the heart, and the hands and vision of the people we love.”
What a beautiful description of why we love what we do.

My hope is that you read through the entire blog. Makes my heart so happy thinking you do!

Friends of Unity September 2023 Blog Hop ~ Technique

Hello, friends! Welcome to our September Blog Hop.

I truly enjoyed creating the cards for our Techniques Cue

I chose to focus on a bit of monochromatic coloring, as well as, ink layering and ink accents.

When I first started watercoloring images I was so naïve to the difference layering colors and adding ink accents would bring my creations. Honestly, I didn't even know how. Now that I have captured these techniques my creations feel more alive!

For both cards I used 3 images and sentiment blocks from the new September KOM. This KOM is just incredible!

I love the different shades of brown in both her hair and the wheat stalks. Actually, I love the outcome of the hair and the wheat stalks on both cards

When I am working with watercolor markers sometimes I'll bring the marker to my paper and blend out with my paintbrush and sometimes I put the ink on a surface and pick it up with my brush.

I'll be honest, most of the time there is no rhyme or reason to how I create. I just kinda "go with the flow" the piece is taking on. Do you find that also to be true for you?

I love the look this grid background element gives this card. It would be incomplete without it. I stamped the wheat grain stalk directly over the grid and colored in layers with varying shades of brown. Going back over it with color until I achieved the look I was hoping for.

When finishing off a card I always add little bit of color to various areas that I want to stand out or "appear" shaded or shadowed. Followed by splatters and wisps of white ink.

I'm not sure which style I like best. Perhaps, the softer one. I do especially love how the wheat turned out on that one. ;)

As always, I would love to know which card is YOUR favorite!

I can't wait to hear about all the inspiration you received from my friends and I using todays Techniques cue! If I can leave you with one thing from this cue, always go back and see where you can add varied color and shade to your creation. Oh yea, and splatters are ALWAYS a good idea. ;)

I hope you’ll  join our Technique cue and create some new cards to share in Unity Show & Tell! Please, TAG ME if you do. I would truly love to see them!!

Friends of Unity Blog Hop August 2023 ~ Angie Girls 10th Anniversary!

Hello, friends! Welcome to our August 23 Blog Hop with everyone's favorite line of stamps, Angie Girls!

Did you know Angie started creating Angie Girls 10 years ago!?! Wow. I know we all thank her!

We all love and adore the Angie Girls! I chose 2 of my absolute favorites to work with. I think they look kinda like me. ;) Angie Girls as so relatable!!

My first cared uses the wonderfully unique Beatrix Girl. Her awesome outfit is so my style here on the farm!

I used a sentiment from a Graciellie Design set called Difficult Roads so that I could send my sister, Leisha, inspiration and encouragement as she'll be in the hospital for months trying to heal from a plethora of issues.

This next card uses the beautifully artistic, Peyton Girl. I adore this girl! I imagine many of us can relate to her.

I think I may also send this card to my sister, Leisha as she will love that this Girl is an artist. My sister truly does inspire me always smiling and trusting God's plan even in the midst of the hardest season of her life. Such a testament to her faith and His strength!

Both cards were stamped and watercolored on Hammermill Premium Color Copy 100lb. This is the same paper Angie B uses, and we all know how amazing her creations are. (I think our talented April S also uses it often)

I was so intimidated by it at first as it has quite a learning curve, but have grown to love how the painting looks on this paper. It is also a great price point and a whiter finish!

As always, I would love to know which card is your favorite!

I hope you’ll  join our Angie Girl cue and create some new cards to share in Unity Show & Tell! Please, TAG ME if you do. I would truly love to see them!!

Doodling is good for the soul!

Today I really needed the distraction, the joy in creating. We are still trying to get settle following a major move and it is still all things chaotic here. Good chaos but chaos nonetheless!

So, I doodled, and it was wonderful!!

I looked around my house for inspiration and found it in my bible carrying case and a book I read my grandkids

I took pictures along the way and thought you might also be inspired to doodle!

Enjoy the process!

Absolutely loving the look the black pen outline gives!!

The tent and banner on this page gave the inspiration of this panel. Loving this shade of green!

This shimmer in the dots and lines is from a pan set by Kuretake Gansai Tambi called Starry. Here I've used the silver, but the gold from this set is my favortie!

Again, I just love the look the black lines give!!

This activity truly brought me joy today in the midst of chaos and worry for my sisters surgery. Thankful for this craft!!

I sure hope you find inspiration here! I would love to see your doodles! Tag me on Fb and IG!

Thank you for following along on my craft & art journey!

Blessings,

Bobbie Sue

Friends of Unity Blog Hop June 2023 ~ Masculine

Hello, friends! Welcome to our June 23 Blog Hop with the ever so popular cue "Masculine".

I think most of us often struggle with creating Masculine cards. I'm certain you will find much inspiration throughout this hop! Enjoy!

My first card uses the work boots and a sentiment from the March 23 KOM.
Oh if these boots could talk. They'd speak from the heart of a man working for his future. For his family. Perhaps, for his future family. These boots represent my sons and my hard working precious husband. Who do they represent for you?

I cut out the middle pair and popped them up. I love the way they just lean over the I love you. My Daughter in law Jessie is giving this card to our son Billy Joe for his July birthday.

This next card uses the gorgeous vintage typewriter from the new June KOM. This card screams messy masculine vintage! Right?! I do love it.

Do you notice the glaze on the keys?? I love how the clear Nuvo drops I used created a realistic shine! You can also get the drops here at Unity!

As always I would love to know which is your favorite!

I hope you’ll  join our Masculine cue and create some new cards to share in Unity Show & Tell! Please, TAG ME if you do. I would truly love to see them and read what inspires you to create!!

Friends of Unity Blog Hop May 2023 ~ Inspired By…

Hello, friends! Welcome to our May FOU Blog Hop!

May. Such a beautiful month.

BTW, Happy 15th Birthday to Unity Stamp Company!

Click here to check out all their fantastic new releases and birthday discounts!

This months cue of "Inspired By" is very dear to me as inspiration in creating, simply in living, encompasses much of what I do, how I react and interact. Especially how I create

Creativity doesn't always come easy to me. I often look to others, to resources, for a spark I can draw from. One of my greatest sources of artistic inspiration comes from watching other creators. More so, the creative style of Angie Blom. I accredit much of my watercoloring and cardmaking growth to learning from her. I'll always be thankful for you, Angie!

This first card uses the gorgeous headshot from the Aug 16 KOM called Open Your Soul. ((Have you seen my She Believed card series using this piece? Would love for you to see it here!))

This card was Inspired By the young ladies of this generation trying to find their way in a world that can be as cruel & confusing as it is beautiful and awe-inspiring. My prayer is that they are given the opportunity to Grow in Grace

I masked her off to stamp behind an element piece from the Dec 22 KOM A New Chapter. The sweet & powerful sentiment is also from the Dec 22 KOM.

Don't shy away from masking stamps like this that have all those wonderful little bits. I trimmed my masking paper off to frame the majority of her hair and around her face. Worked perfectly even with the wispy hair!

This next card uses a Unity best seller called You Are Forever Beautiful

Most of my cards are Inspired By my love for my daughter, Samantha. She has been a struggling single mom for many years and has overcome and grown from so many obstacles and set backs. Many of them she will admit where by her own doing. I have loved and encouraged her through them all and admire the women she has become and continues to grow into.

I truly love this sentiment from a Graciellie Design set called Happy Mother's Day. Endures. This perfectly explains a mothers love for a daughter who's potential is most seen through her mothers eyes.

I hope you’ll  join our Inspired by cue and create some new cards to share in Unity Show & Tell and share with us what inspired you to create them! Please, TAG ME if you do. I would truly love to see them and read what inspires you to create!!
