Friends of Unity August Blog Hop ~ Sympathy

Hello, friends! Welcome to my blog and welcome to August!

This months theme is Sympathy. Some sympathy cards can be so hard to create, but oh what a tender message it sends the receiver. To me, sympathy cards do not always have to be about loss.

Both of my cards this month were fairly easy to create, and I absolutely love how they turned out.

This first card is going to a dear friend of mine who is in the hospital battling heart issues. Her faith is incredibly strong and trusts God is in control, but I know she is still frightened and alone during this time of distancing.

This was my first time using the flower and butterfly cluster from the Feb 2020 Sentiment Kit called "hope is a beautiful thing". How gorgeous is it in b&w splattered with copper! I see myself using this cluster on many cards with this very same style. So many amazing details to this image.

The Praying for you sentiment is from March 2018 Sentiment Kit called "mourning dove". There are so many beautiful and touching sentiments in this set.

Did you know that Unity sells the line of Clair inks? (as the one I've used here below) They are my go to inks for stamping my and sentiments!

This next card is for a dear family friend of ours who has fought brain tumors for many a year. They just discovered two more. He is one of the strongest and most humble of men I know. I am eager to get this card to him to let him know we are praying for him and encouraging him to battle on as he has done for many years!

I do not create very many masculine cards, but I knew immediately I wanted to use "A Faithful Letter" for this one. This stamp is an amazing collaboration of verses that offer hope and strength in God's promises for our future. Verses that bring peace no matter the situation at hand. This stamp is truly a new favorite of mine.

I purposely lightly stamped Faithful Letter in various areas using the distress ink called Hickory Smoke.

There's just something I love about the look of the "hugs and prayers" sentiment stamp I used from the February 2015 Sentiment Kit called "beautiful life, blessed memories". The words express exactly what I want to extend Bro Jimmy and I thought the font was perfect for a masculine card.

As always~
Thanks for spending time with me today!

  1. Bobbie Sue, your cards and messaging are absolutely beautiful! I like how you accented the design of the first card by adding the patterned paper to the inside so that it would be seen from the front. It really did make the flowers and ink splatters pop! Simply stunning!

  10. I just love both of your cards, and that you interpreted the cue of sympathy to mean hope and care as well. The black and white floral, with splatters, really caught my eye with its artsy look. The masculine card is just perfect, with the plaid papers and simple sentiment. These are beautiful!

  20. Speechless.... the heartfelt prayers, love, prayers, and concern is portrayed so beautifully. I have usually never kept sympathy cards on hand and make them in a hurry, but the flower is exactly what I love to do. I will probably try this. Would love to see the inside. Thanks and thanks.
