Friends of Unity Blog Hop January 2023 ~ Birthdays

Welcome to 2023, friends!! And welcome to our January Blog Hop!

My prayer for you this year is that you have peace with what you left in 2022 and embrace what is to come in 2023.

Our cue this month is Birthdays! If you have a January Birthday please let me know in the comments below!

Our very own Angela Magnuson has a monumental January Birthday that she is determined to embrace and make her best year yet!

My first card uses the amazing snow flocked trees from this months KOM. I am also loving this Happy Birthday sentiment from this kit. Such a beautiful design and font!

I painted several layers with my brush to achieve the looks in the sky, on the ground and in the trees.

I love how the snow on the trees make them look 3d! Such a great stamp design!

Curious if you can see the one spot in one of the trees I forgot to add color to! Of course, I have since fixed it, but didn't redo the photo. ;)

This next card uses butterflies from a set called Moments of Bliss by Graciellie Design. This isn't exactly what I had envisioned for this card, but I do love the result.

I did fussy cut the butterflies out and manipulated the wings just a bit for a 3d effect. So beautiful in person.

I have loved making these backgrounds using a black brushpen and liquid gold ink. I love pattern paper with rich lines, but have not purchased any lately. I may just continue to create my own with a variety of colors!

Would love for you to vote in the comments which of the cards above you think I should send Angela for her January 13 birthday!! So fun to see your votes!!

The two cards below were made mid last year and I turned them both into birthday cards when my supply was low. See the results in the photo following. They've since been mailed and recieved. I loved them so much!

I often add new sentiments to previously made cards (and sometimes add new ink) and turn them into new cards! Do you do this, as well??

I hope you’ll  join our cue and create some new Birthday cards! Please, TAG ME if you do. I would truly love to see them!

My hope is that you read through the entire blog. Makes my heart so happy thinking you do!

As always~

Thanks for spending time with me today!

It brings me so much joy sharing my thoughts and creations with all of you!

Until next time~

Be blessed, friends!

Bobbie Sue

  3. I absolutely love all your birthday cards with your signature watercoloring style! The winter tree card is so gorgeous and have yet to find the missed spot. I think Angela would love any of your cards but thinking maybe the butterfly one simply because I remember she loves butterflies! I love how it extends off the page and is popped up to look so real! I also always love amazing yellow cards, so happy and uplifting.

  4. This is my first visit to your blog hop. What a great way to share your talents. I am definitely heading to the Watercolor one from November. I have recently dusted off my paint brushes and look forward to tips and inspiration. The tree card is amazing. I plan to play with the gold/black striped background too. Love the flower cards as well.

  7. Absolutely love these! The striped/butterfly/flower card is my favorite!! I also absolutely change sentiments if I need a different card! Changed a “bee my little sister” card to “happy bee-day” when we couldn’t find a bee stuffed animal for the little!! LOL

  9. The dimension in the first card are amazing - so like you! I'm thinking your open spot is the right tree in the center under the 4th mound of snow. ;-) But with all the color and fullness wherever you goofed it couldn't be seen. Love that you place the butterfly off the card edge. It really kicks up the card a notch. As far as sending, I know she'd like both. I'm partial to butterflies myself. Beautiful work!

  17. I wouldnt have noticed, until .I stared, but yup there it was. It was funny how my eyes was drawn to that trunk at first, I thought nothing and viewed the rest without subconsciously noticing. When you asked where..... I looked there first. Yikes. Annnnd she should have butterflies, that's my vote. Hugs and remember you are beautifully made! (Yes I still remember.)
